Students in grades 7 and 8 spent their half day on Friday the 27th of January working on a grade level project. 7th graders explored their 21st century skills of collaboration, critical thinking and creativity as they used various materials to create a roller coaster. They had specific requirements they needed to include and a limited supply of tape, tubing and toilet paper rolls! Students worked together in groups to design their product and then build it. Many test runs and revisions took place. The team with the fastest time for a marble running the course and landing in a paper cup was declared the winning team.
8th grade students spent the morning learning about, investigating and reflecting upon the pros and cons of the growth of technology and how it has changed our lives. They were given various presentations on privacy, sharing of information, personal rights, digital footprint and the uses of technology in the world of recruitment for colleges, employment, even housing. Students then analyzed all the information they were given and created pros and cons for the use of technology. These opposing sides were then presented to their classmates.
Overall, it was a great day of collaboration with all our students and staff.
